Description

The topics covered in this course will be:

  • Engineering Controls (ventilation systems (types), practices for proper operation (e.g. keep door closed), positive/negative pressure
  • Personal protective equipment (head/foot/thermal/respiratory
  • Information (SOPs/Signs/Lights/Area Markings/Ask/Follow Verbal Instructions
  • Storage (Samples/Chemicals) Exits and Aisleways
  • Cranes/Forklifts/Hoists
  • Emergency Procedures (Signals/Alarms/Evacuation Routes)
  • Visitors (Appropriate PPE, Designated Areas, UL Authority, Notification to visitors prior to site visit)

Objectives

  • Describe the types of hazards associated with fire labs
  • Describe safe work practices, including engineering controls, personal protective equipment, emergency procedures, and visitors

Target Audience

  • Customers who assist with sample setup in the fire laboratory
  • Contractors who work in the fire laboratory
