If you work with laboratory equipment and/or test and measuring equipment and similar products covered by UL 61010-1 and IEC 61010-1, you will add important, practical skills to your technical capabilities. This intensive technical workshop includes: how to apply the "two levels of protection" concept, measuring creepage and clearance based on the voltages and materials involved, and selecting components of appropriate integrity for use in non-energy limiting circuits.
This workshop features additional topics including: The use of Amendments, Part 2 particular standards (ie: for probes and centrifuges), the CB Scheme, and the benefits of using high integrity components. You will also learn about the national differences contained in UL 61010-1. You will also have the opportunity to participate in practical application exercises in a cooperative team environment.
Workshop Topics
- Development and structure of the standard
- Terminology and basic safety considerations
- Electric shock (includes permissible limits)
- Fire hazards (includes limited circuit criteria)
- Enclosure design
- Mechanical hazards (includes introduction to risk management in 61010-2-081 and 61010-2-101)
- Heat hazards
- Diagramming insulation requirements
- Insulation coordination and dielectric strength tests
- Determining creepage and clearance, 2nd edition application
- Other hazards
- Component requirements
- Practical application exercise
- Documentation and marking requirements
- Testing overview per UL 61010-1
- Global product certification
|
Objectives
- Identify key technical safety requirements in UL/IEC 61010-1 standards
- Define the term "Particular Standards"
- Define the structure of the base document, amendments, new editions and related Part 2 documents
- Identify the uses of insulation diagrams: creepage, clearance, thickness and dielectric strength
|
Target Audience
- Product safety engineers
- Compliance engineers
- Product designers
- Technical marketing professionals
